Cavern Diving in the Yucatan

Below is just a Sample of the Pictures that we took while Diving in the caverns. The Divemaster shown below helped guide use through these caverns. Normally you had to be an experienced cave diver to do this kind of dive, although these were considered friendly caverns since they have been charted, very well, and you can usually see some ambient light in the distance (very far distance in some cases).

If you look carefully you can see some of the guide wires that we come across in the diving. They help to lead you out of the cavern in case you get lost. Getting lost is something that can happen very easy.

Looking at these pictures you can get an idea of exactly how large some of the spaces are.

Never forget that you can not go directly up to get to the surface.

A larger open area shown below. Some of the spaces where very tight. We probably traveled a few hundred yards into the cavern during out dive.
